Old Glory
by Marty Petersen
Old Glory! What nobler banner unfurls above, than
Old Glory, the grand old flag of the land I love.
Old Glory! What a thrill to see her, above the trees,
emblazon the sky and blossom in every breeze.
Once I would have thought her colors would fade away
as freedom would die from apathy's sad display,
Oh, how I decried the shame of others too blind to see,
but then I discovered that to others the blind was me.
Oh, Red, White, and Blue,
oh, hear my story.?
I promise to you
I'll guard your glory.
Old Glory, oh may I never disgrace your name,
that "our nation still lives" so proudly you may proclaim.
Old Glory, do you know who's proud that you fly so free?
I'll tell you, there's many millions more like me.
